Pupil Parliament
At Harris Primary Academy Haling Park we have our very own Pupil Parliament.
The representatives are elected by the children in their class at the start of each academic year.
They meet with the Head of Academy every half-term to discuss issues that are important to our children.
They help to drive improvement in the school and improve the experiences of all our pupils.
We will keep you updated with information that comes from their meetings through our newsletters.
The Election Process
All the representatives were elected by their peers through a democratic process.
There is one Pupil Parliament representative for each class.
How were they elected?
Stage 1 – Manifesto Writing
Stage 2 – Canvassing
Stage 3 – Election day
Stage 4 – Results Announced
Every child in the school got a vote.
Croydon Town Hall Visit
To help our Pupil Parliament representatives understand their role, we took them to visit the Mayor of Croydon at the Town Hall. The children were given a guided tour of the Council Chambers and had the opportunity to quiz Jason Perry about what it was like to be elected to serve your community.
